E-Voucher system a mess - Kafumbo

The Zambia Direct Democratic Movement (ZDDM) has advised government to ensure that value addition is taken seriously in Agriculture sector if economic divarication is to thrive in the country. ZDDM Vice President Charles Kafumbo says dependence syndrome on Copper should stop because it is a depreciating asset. He says on the other hand Agriculture if taken seriously has potential of not only creating employment but also become the hub of the national economy. He is therefore advising government to rid the Agriculture sector of the bottlenecks such the late delivery of farming inputs to farmers among others which are making it difficult for the Agriculture sector to thrive and become the engine of the national economy. He disclosed that farmers in Kalumbila District of Northwestern Province have update not received the farming inputs, a development he said is an indication that the FISP E-Voucher program is in disarray.

Kanyama protest politically motivated-Kombe

Vision Ambassador Chairman Misheck Kombe has described the protest by Kanyama residents demanding that they should be allowed back on the streets to sell from their as politically motivated. Mr. Kombe has called on security wings to investigate this matter and bring to book all perpetrators who would be found wanting. He has told Journalist in Lusaka that it is not clear why residents in Kanyama have decided to protest when all this while they have been cooperating. Mr. Kombe also wondered why residents in Kanyama should be the only one to protest when they are not the only ones who are affected. He says the motive behind the protest will be deemed political and calls for serious investigation on the matter. Chikuse accuses Kalaba, Kambwili of Corruption, urges ACC to arrest them

Governance Activist Leslie Chikuse says the resignations by former Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba and disparaging remarks by Roan Member of Parliament (MP) Chishimba Kambwili alleging that the Patriotic Front (PF) are manoeuvres by politicians seeking to contest the August 2021 Presidential elections. Mr. Chikuse says politicians are ruthlessly fighting in an intra-party marathon following lack of legal clarity whether or not President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is eligible to contest the 2021 elections, which critics say will be tight race. Corruption, Cholera in Zambia worries church

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) President Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu has expressed concern over the increasing incidence of corruption, and embezzlement of public funds in the country. Archbishop Mpundu has noted that corruption has become a troubling national issue. He is worried that corruption has become so pervasive in the country, with no solutions in sight. Speaking during a joint press briefing in Lusaka, Archbishop Mpundu says peace cannot come to the country if successful administrations do not take drastic steps to stamp out the endemic corruption among public servants which has reached epidemic proportions against the backdrop of the highest poverty index since the dawn of the politics since independence. Govt urged to pass mental health bill

A group of mental health advocates has urged Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya to immediately pass the Mental Health bill during the next session because it's long overdue. Mental Health Foundation of Zambia President Potiphar Gwai says the new mental health bill once passed will help modernize legislation, eliminate stigma and discrimination, and promote autonomy and Human rights for persons living with mental disorders. Mr. Gwai says Health is essential to development and there is no health without mental health. He says the passage of the Bill into law will seal the government's commitment to promote mental health services to Zambians who need it. "All Zambians are entitled to mental health," he added. 3rd liberation movement leader Enock Tonga has made an impassioned plea to be able to state his position regarding political upheavals. Mr. Tonga has observed that one of the biggest challenges that lie ahead of Zambia is that of building credibility, trust and confidence in her politics and governance systems. He says for more than half a century, politicians and their proceeding government have totally failed to build any semblance of credibility as a result of embracing dirty politics. Kapata is hiding something- PF youth

Some patriotic front youths in chongwe district has warned that they will soon demonstrate against minister of lands and natural resources jean kapata’s decision to suspend the land agency for chongwe district council. Chongwe patriotic front member identified as wilfred morgan says even though ms. Kapata is the minister, she did not follow the right procedure to suspend the land agency for chongwe district. Mr. Morgan has accused the minister of disrespecting the chongwe mayor geoffrey chumbwe and his counterpart chongwe district commissioner frazier musonda. He feels that the minister could have consulted the chongwe mayor before suspending the land agency for chongwe district council. Mr. Morgan is worried that party will lose popularity in the district if this issue is not resolved as soon as possible.
