LWSC shuts down water supply to parts of Lusaka
Lusaka Water and Sewerage
Company has shut down water supply to some parts of the city which are supplied
through the main transmission line from Iolanda Water Treatment Plant in Kafue
in order to facilitate emergency repair works at the intake station.
LWSC Public Relations Manager Patson Phiri says the interruption will result from ZESCO maintenance works in Chilanga
which will affect the LWSC booster station.
He adds that as a result of the shut down some parts of the
city will experience water supply interruptions mainly on Sunday 21st
October 2018 from 06 hours to 18 hours.
Mr. Phiri further adds that other parts of the city which
are supplied through LWSC industrial boreholes will not be affected.
He says the works being undertaken are part of the us $355
million Lusaka water supply, sanitation and drainage project with support from
the millennium challenge corporation.
Mr. Phiri has encouraged residents to store enough water for
use on Sunday and Monday in areas where pressure remains low for longer spells
when water supply interruption occurs.

WATER SUPPLY SHUTDOWN DUE TO ZESCO
MAINTENANCE WORKS THAT WILL AFFECT
LWSC CHILANGA BOOSTER STATION
Lusaka water and Sewerage Company wishes to inform its esteemed customers that
there will be water supply shutdown to some parts of the City which are supplied
through the main transmission line from Iolanda Water Treatment Plant in Kafue.
The interruption will result from ZESCO maintenance works in Chilanga which will
affect the LWSC booster station.
As a result of the shutdown, some parts of the City will experience water supply
interruptions mainly on Sunday 21, October, 2018 from 06 hours to 18 hours.
However, low pressure is expected on Monday 22nd October, 2018 in a few areas. It must be noted that other parts of the City which are supplied through the LWSC industrial boreholes will not be affected.
LWSC boreholes account for 60% of the company’s total water production.
Residents are encouraged to store enough water for use on Sunday and Monday in areas where pressure remains low for longer spells when water supply interruption occurs.

Water supply will be normalised as soon as the works are completed and when we attain sufficient levels in our distribution system.
The works being undertaken are part of the US $355 million Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation and Drainage project with support from the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a United States Government Agency.
These interruptions are unavoidable and Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company sincerely regrets the inconvenience these works may cause to residents in the affected areas. We request for understanding as we work towards providing you an improved and sustained service.
