Teen accuses father of inaction after stepbrother’s alleged abuse

A 16 year-old girl, whose identity has been withheld for her protection, says she feels deeply let down by her father after he allegedly took a light decision when she was defiled by her 19 year old stepbrother.

The abuse occurred when she was 14.

Identified only as Mary, the teenager lived with her three sisters and one stepbrother after her parents divorced.

She recounts that that the abuse happened mostly when her stepmother was away from home.

Mary said the siblings would play hide and seek and whenever her stepbrother joined the game, he would lure her into a room, remove her clothes and defile her.

“We would play hide-and-seek,” Mary said. “When he joined, he would find me, pull me into a room, remove my clothes, and defile me.”

She further revealed that on some days, the children were denied food and were beaten by the same stepbrother whenever adults were not present.

According to Mary, her stepmother refused to believe her allegations, insisting that her son was innocent and accusing the girl of lying.

Another young girl who lived with the family reportedly witnesses the abuse and corroborated Mary’s account, but the stepmother still dismissed the claims and hid the information from Mary’s father.

Mary said her father eventually discovered the truth and chased the boy from home but did not report the matter to the Police.

Mary said that although her father took her for medical examinations, no additional action was taken.

“I felt pain because I was telling the truth, but no one believed me. I even thought of running away,” she said.

She stated that her biological mother used to comfort her and insisted that the boy should have been arrested, but he has already been sent away by the father.

Mary said she still struggles with feelings of guilty and self blame, saying that the ordeal has damaged her relationship with her father.

“I sued to enjoy being found around him, but now I feel he protected his stepson,” she said.
