Mbangweta urges politicians to recognize HH’s competence
Mr. Mbangweta said if this recognition is embraced, it would eliminate jealousy and help leaders appreciate their positions in relation to their abilities.
He said Zambia belongs to all citizens equally and not to a select few, saying there should be no divisions of landlords and servants.
Mr. Mbangweta says while everyone enjoys the same rights, some individuals must be acknowledged as more capable, even if they may not be considered the right people by others.
The Minister, who is also UPND Nkeyema Member of Parliament, said that divisions in the country stem from individuals who believe Zambia belongs exclusively to them and insist on leading even when incompetent.
He has pointed to President Hichilema’s career as evidence of capacity, noting that before joining politics, he had risen to the position of managing director at an international firm at a young age.
Mr. Mbangweta has explained that President Hichilema inherited a bankrupt and divided country, but despite challenges such as drought and the COVID-19 pandemic, his government has delivered results.
He cited the President’s recent speech in Parliament as an example of issue-based leadership that stood out from past administrations.
Mr. Mbangweta has further highlighted that the UPND government has delivered on promises such as increasing Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from K1.6 million to K25.7 million, with consistent payments unlike previous governments.
He dismissed claims that the government is printing money, stressing that the increase in funding has been achieved by changing spending priorities.
