Luanshya MP praises CDF for transforming constituency
Luanshya Central Member of Parliament Lusale Simbao says the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has significantly transformed his constituency by addressing long-standing challenges in infrastructure, education, and service delivery.
Mr. Simbao noted that many people initially thought Luanshya Constituency only covered the town centre, but it is in fact a vast area stretching from Copperstone to beyond the toll gate, covering communities such as Kasongo, Masaiti Block, Dap, Kapukulu, Chawama, and Baluba.
He recalled his campaign tours, during which he encountered serious hardships faced by residents, such as communities cut off from health facilities by streams without bridges.
“In places like Visaka, people risked their lives trying to cross makeshift poles to reach clinics and schools. Some even lost their lives attempting to cross. Today, thanks to CDF, a strong and safe bridge has been built, and everyone – children, the elderly, and pregnant women – can cross without fear,” Mr. Simbao said.
The MP also cited the construction of a school in Dap, an area where children previously had to walk long and unsafe distances to access education. He said the new school, teachers’ houses, and sanitation facilities built using CDF funds now allow children to start school at the right age.
Mr. Simbao further highlighted electrification projects in Kasongo, where residents now have access to electricity, enabling them to open barbershops, welding businesses, and other small enterprises without having to travel to town.
He described these developments as life-changing, adding that the CDF has brought dignity and opportunities closer to the people.
“As an MP, I feel deeply satisfied because I promised the people of Luanshya during campaigns that electing UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema would bring development and it has come to pass. CDF has truly done wonders for my constituency,” Mr. Simbao said.
