President Hichilema hails progress in fight against corruption


President Hakainde Hichilema has hailed the country's progress in the fight against corruption, citing acquittals, convictions, and the recovery of tainted assets.

President Hichilema said the government is committed to implementing Alternative Dispute Resolution [ADR] mechanisms to expedite the resolution of corruption-related cases.

The President has emphasized that the government is recovering tainted assets and restoring them to their rightful owners, the Zambian people stressing that this approach aligns with international best practices in combating corruption.



The President said by integrating ADR methods such as mediation and negotiation, the government aims to enhance judicial efficiency, reduce case backlogs, and ensure swift justice while upholding principles of accountability and transparency.

The Head of State said the fight against corruption continues in a non-selective manner.

He has reiterated that his administration will fight past, present and future corruption and that he is encouraged by the recent transparency international corruption perception index score which improved from 37 in 2023 to 39 in 2024.

Meanwhile President Hichilema has expressed concern over the growing trend of vandalism and theft of public property.

He has urged citizens to report such acts to law enforcement agencies.

Additionally, the President addressed the issue of land encroachment, particularly on private property, and promised that the government would take necessary measures to put an end to it.

President Hichilema has encouraged citizens to apply for land through legal channels and to refrain from vandalism and theft.

He has emphasized the importance of patriotism and responsible citizenship in promoting national development.
