World Vision Zambia pledges ongoing support amidst drought crisis

World Vision Zambia [WVZ] working in partnership with the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit [DMMU] and World Food Programme [WFP] is delivering relief food to families in need. WVZ has pledged ongoing support to Zambia amidst the drought and food insecurity crisis. The Vision has already provided humanitarian assistance to over 319,000 people and aims to reach 500,000 by April 2025, with a US$20 million response plan. Its effort focuses on protecting children, especially girls, and includes empowerment interventions like drilling boreholes, providing water in schools and health facilities, and supporting sustainable farming practices. UPND MP tells ECL to stop claiming he did President Hichilema a favor

United Party for National Development (UPND) Member of Parliament, Moono Mapani, has rebuked former President Edgar Lungu for claiming he did President Hakainde Hichilema a favor by handing over power. Mr. Mapani argued that Mr. Lungu had no choice but to relinquish power, as it was the constitutional obligation of a defeated candidate. He emphasized that Zambians voted for President Hichilema, and Mr. Lungu's handover of power was not a favor, but rather a democratic necessity. Mr. Mapani stated that the UPND did not need Mr. Lungu's favor, as they were entrusted by Zambians to govern the country. “Mr. Lungu should cease making such claims, which he sees as an attempt to distort the democratic process”, he said.
