Zambia not on track to achieve SDGS by 2030

United Nations Resident Coordinator Beatrice Mutali says Zambia is not on track to achieving sustainable development goals despite making strides towards meeting some of them.

Ms Mutali says globally, none of the countries are on track in meeting the 17 goals because of the unexpected occurrences such as the covid-19, wars and unrest's.

She says Zambia submitted it's voluntary national review report which indicated that the country is facing challenges in achieving some of the sustainable development goals.

Ms Mutali says Zambia is making strides towards some sustainable development goals such as those to do with education following the introduction of the free education policy which has seen a lot of children accessing education as well as the recruitment of teachers.

She further states that the country has also made notable progress in the health sector as can be seen by the recent recruitment of health workers and the reduction in maternal mortality.
