BWIN Enters Zambian Betting Market


Entain, the global sports betting, gaming, and interactive entertainment group
has launched BWIN, its leading sports betting brand, in the regulated Zambian market.

BWIN’s Africa Chief Marketing Officer Spencer Okach says customers will now be able to access a wide range of sports betting and casino offers.

Speaking at an event to mark the launch, Mr. Okach says the Company is thrilled to enter the Zambian market which has one of the most highly regarded regulatory environments on the African continent.

He says the destination for the first launch in Africa given its stable economic and regulatory framework, which provide a great platform for growth.

Mr. Okach has promised customers a smooth user experience thanks to a seamless interaction with the platform’s deposit and payout processes all made straightforward thanks to the integration of the services of local partners Airtel and MTN to enable customers to enjoy BWIN’s incredible portfolio of sports betting and gaming products.

He says BWIN also brings to Zambia its rich brand history that has seen it partner with some of the biggest names in world sport. bwin is the Official Partner of the both the UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League as well as being the Official Partner of the German Football Association and national team.

Mr. Okach has further highlighted BWIN’s plans to work with the Ministry of Tourism in Tourism Marketing, who regulate the betting and gaming industry:

We have already identified areas where we can support the tourism sector through some of our assets that have global audiences, leveraging the assets of our partnership with UEFA to increase exposure for Zambia’s tourism sector. Tourism and Arts Minister Rodney Sikumba  says governments commitment is to work with private sector in order to create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive and Ultimately grow the economy and create jobs.

Speaking at the Launch of Bee-Win, one of the leading sports betting brands in the world and in Europe, which belongs to Entain, Mr. Sikumba says the gaming industry although destructive in certain neighborhoods provides great opportunity for social economic development if intergrated strategically in the country.

In a speech read on his behalf by Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga says the sector is currently regulated by six fragmented pieces of legislation and administered by different Ministries such as Finance, Local Government, Commerce Trade and Industry and Ministry of Tourism.

He says the fragmented pieces of legislation made it extremely difficult to monitor and supervise the sector.

The Minister says there is still a lot of work to be done for the country to declare sanity in the gaming sector and lotteries arena.

And Mr. Sikumba has commended Bee-Win for Launching in Zambia and showing commitment to supporting the development of sport in the country through various initiatives lined up in the coming year.

He has since advised Bee-Win (BWIN) to formulate strategies in partinership with the Ministry of Yourg and Sport through the national sports Council of Zambia that will ultimately increase the numbers to the destination.

The Minister is confident that Bee-Win being a leading player in sports betting and Casino in Europe, will promote responsible betting practices in Zambia.
