Tuition centres source of exam leakages- ZNUT

Zambia National Union of Teachers [ZNUT] Public Relations Officer Joe Kasaka has urged government to monitor Tuition Centres in the country accusing them of been the source of Examination leakages.

"I think Tuition centres must be monitored closely because most sources of these leakages are coming from their because their aim is to ensure that they prove a point that what they have been teaching are bearing fruits so that they can have market next year, Mr. Kasaka has said.

"And at the end of the day what they do is to try by all means to get these papers and disseminate them to their students which are very unfortunate because we think a tuition centre should prepare their students on how to answer examination questions among others."

He has accused some Tuition centres of causing issues of Examination leakages which he said is not right in the education sector in Zambia.

Mr. Kasaka is concerned over reports that 10 people were arrested for been in possession with unauthorized suspected examination question papers contrary to section 19 sub section (1) chapter 137 of the Examination Council of Zambia Act of 1983.

He has expressed fear that the continued leakage of examinations discredits the national education system.

Meanwhile Mr. Kasaka has called on government through the Ministry of General Education to come up with stern measures over people that will be found with linked examination papers in the country.

Mr. Kasaka says Parliament should consider coming up with stiffer punishment to people who link examination papers because it is eroding the education standard of the country.
