Support oil exploration, Kaputa MP
Kaputa District is a District of
Zambia located in Northern Province.
The capital lies at
Kaputa, as of the 2000 Zambian Census, the district had a population of
87,233 people.
The district also has rich deposits of
uranium and other precious stones.
Patriotic Front Kaputa Member of
Parliament Maxas Bweupe Ng'onga confirmed the discovery to Jenalanews.blogsport in Lusaka today.
The minerals were discovered following
exploration expeditions by Geologists in the area.
And Mr. Ng'onga has requested the
government to render support to the companies which are carrying out oil
explorations in the block that encompasses Kaputa, Chiyengi and Mporokoso
districts.
"Government needs to support the
companies doing oil exploration in the area in view of its prospects
which are beneficial to the area" Ng'onga added.
He has expressed confidence that once oil is
found in the area it will spur massive economic development in the district.
Mr. Ng'onga stresses that if Kaputa
district has oil, the district is likely to see a remarkable facelift in
various sectors.
He has singled out the road sector saying once
oil is found in the area ,it will be easy to repair the damage roads
that negatively affect the transportation of goods to the neighboring
Democratic Republic Congo.
Mr. Ng'onga says this will in turn facilitate
the transportation of goods and services to the DRC.
Meanwhile Mr. Ng'onga has revealed that the
construction of the 5 Health posts allocated to Kaputa District from the 650
which are being constructed countrywide will commence once the rainy season
comes to an end.
Mr. Ng'onga has since appealed to the Ministry
of Health to give priority to the Northern region more especially Kaputa
district when the construction works begin.
He says the increased population in the
area is putting a strain on the few existing health posts hence the need to
priotise Kaputa district when the construction of the 5 Health posts begin.
Mr. Ng'onga believes that once constructed the
5 Health posts will beef up the number of Health institutions in the area
thereby, improving the delivery of health services.
Meanwhile Mr. Ng'onga has advised the Ministry
of Health to ensure that works start as soon as the rainy season ends
because the road is more passable to the motorists in dry season a
development which could easy the transportation of the building material to the
site.
And Mr. Ng'onga is happy that unlike in the
past when Kaputa district had few health workers the district has now been
given a good number of trained health personnel who are providing health services
to the masses.
He adds that the construction of the 5 Health
posts had stalled following the suspension of the contractor who had been
awarded the contract to build the said health posts in the area.
