Zambian boxers gaining exposure in India

TWO Zambian boxers from Oriental Quarries and Exodus Stables have successfully taken part in the India Open AIBA Elite Men and Women Tournament.

Zambia Boxing Federation President Kennedy Mubita says Violet Phiri and Davy Mwale are in India as part of preparations for the Commonwealth Games slated for Australia from 4th to 15th April 2018.

Mubita says the boxers will now camp for two months at the Olympic Youth Development Centre - OYDC in Lusaka as Zambia prepares for the 5 slots that it has been given.

He has since thanked Government for supporting boxing.

Mubita has called on the corporate world to come on board for more sponsorship because boxing is among the Podium Performance Programme - PPP that brings medals into Zambia.

The Boxing Federation President was speaking when he called on Zambia's High Commissioner to India Judith Kapinjipanga at the Zambian Mission in New Delhi, India.

And Zambia's High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga has praised Zambia Boxing Federation for exposing the boxers in India.

Ms. Kapinjipanga says India is advanced in all spheres which gives the boxers chance to prepare for greater challenges ahead during future tournaments.
