Police roadblocks killing tourism - ZTA

Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) Chief Executive Director Felix Chaila has described unnecessary level of police roadblocks to be among many factors frustrating tourism growth in Zambia. Mr. Chaila says tourist are more vulnerable to harassment at police road blocks especially those driving foreign number plates. He says in a bid to improve tourists arrivals in the country, the Agency in partnership with the Tourism Ministry are working together to ensure that unnecessary roadblocks are reduced so as to improve the tourism sector. Mr. Chaila said in an interview that Tourism can be a key driver of the growth and economic diversification for the country. He says maximizing the power of the sector requires increased regional cooperation, prioritization of tourism in the national agendas and building resilience and sustainability.
