China donates goods worth 260, 0000 to Zambia Police to help combat Cholera
The Zambia Chinese Association has donated Cholera utensils worth 260, 000 kwacha to the Zambia Police Service as the Country continues to grapple with the deadly Cholera pandemic which has so far claimed over 350 lives since October 2023.
Among the items donated include, 2000
Chlorine, 2000 soap bars, 50 pieces of washbasins, 10 units of water purifiers,
300 Alcohol bottles for medical purposes, 5 boxes of Alcohol wipes, 20 pieces of
umbrella and 10, 000 pieces of Masks.
Zambia Chinese Association Chairman Wu Ming has reiterated the association's commitment to continue working with the Zambia Police Service to cement the relationship in creating a peaceful and secure environment.
Presenting the items Mr. Ming says
the donated goods serve as China’s concerted efforts in aiding the country to
fight the Cholera pandemic.
And Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba expressed profound gratitude to the Association for their heartfelt support to the Zambia Police and the Zambians at large.
Mr. Musamba says the donations have come at the most opportune time as the country is fighting the outbreak of Cholera.
“The relationship between Zambia and China dates back to Zambia’s independence in 1964 and China has supported Zambia through financial and material support since then”, he said.
Mr. Musamba says by working together and facilitating the establishment of channels of communication, the country will achieve the goal of having safer communities.
“Therefore, my appeal to the Zambia Chinese Association is that let us continue strengthening the working relationship in the quest to eradicate crime in all its forms to achieve a crime-free environment that will stimulate economic and social; development of the country”, Mr. Musamba added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Musamba has disclosed that the Police high command has put in place measures to promote professionalism among the officers.
Speaking during the Zambia Police and Chinese Association interactive discussion meeting aimed at promoting open communication, collaboration, and mutual understanding between the two institutions, Mr. Musamba says this will ensure effective service delivery.
“As Zambia Police Service through the Community Services Directorate, we have also put in place proactive measures to work in partnership with the communities to address community safety challenges, therefore, we urge members of the public, organizations, and your association to play a pivotal role in the fight against crime”, he said.
Mr. Musamba has thanked China and
the Zambia Chinese Association for their continued support of the Zambia Police
Service and initiatives toward community safety.
