Mafinga MP backs President Lungu’s Commission of Inquiry on Gassing

Patriotic Front (PF) Mafinga Member of Parliament (MP) Jacob Siwale has welcomed President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s intention to set up a Commission of Inquiry into gassing incidents which have so far resulted in 50 deaths and 26 suspects being apprehended by law enforcement agencies.

In an interview after  President Lungu made his address entitled: "The Progress Made in the Application of The National Values and Principles delivered to The Fourth Session of The Twelfth National Assembly on Friday, 6th March 2020, in Lusaka," Mr. Siwale said the Commission of Inquiry once set up will allay speculations that gassing is a scheme organized by either the Patriotic Front (PF) or the United Party for National Development (UPND) led by Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr. Siwale says the only thing that is going to vindicate both parties and isolate the real architects is through setting up a Commission of Inquiry envisaged by  Dr. Lungu.

"Once the Commission is set up the actual culprits will be brought to book because the presidential  probe will come up with the truth about who is behind" He said.

Addressing parliament on the progress made in the implementation of National Values and Principles, President Lungu said he is seriously considering Constituting a Commission of Inquiry into the gassing incidents.

Mr. Siwale says once constituted the Commission of Inquiry will help address speculations on who is the actual 'Mastermind' behind the gassing of houses and learning institutions  countrywide.

The Law Maker says the Commission of Inquiry is the only way that Zambians will establish the truth and effectively curb ongoing finger - pointing by the PF and United Party for National Development.

He has since called on Zambians to support President Lungu's on the noble course of setting up a Commission of Inquiry on Gassing of Communities in Zambia.
